The new U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, is using his position as a platform to rail against Nicaragua, Venezuela and Cuba, among other countries.

Three falsehoods about the latter country stand out in his public statements.

The former Republican senator insisted on the diatribe that Cuba sponsors terrorism, an assertion surrounded by stereotypes and without evidence, in addition to what is reported by U.S. federal agencies.

According to the administration of outgoing President Joseph Biden, in the last six months the aforementioned agencies have found no evidence of the Caribbean archipelago's sponsorship of terrorism, an argument for removing it from the illegitimate list of those who provide cover for that scourge.

But the hate czars, among whom legislators of alleged Cuban origin stand out, rejected Biden's decision, late and limited, but positive.

In addition to mocking the outgoing president, they expressed the old schemes that, according to them, would fit the permanence of the Caribbean nation in the manipulated inventory.

The new Secretary of State went back to the old ways against Cuba, stressing that what he calls "regime" is characterized by being hostile to the United States.

Rubio, linked to the arms industry and Israeli lobbies, also lashed out against the Caribbean nation because, according to his twisted criteria, it constitutes, along with other countries, a threat in the world.

The traveler's assertions are far from reality, because even if he wanted to, Cuba, a poor country with scarce resources and with shortages exacerbated by the blockade, could hardly become a danger to others.

Despite these truths, the administration of Donald Trump, perversely influenced by the exponents of the so-called anti-Castro industry, has recently adopted decisions that disrupt the lives of Cubans.

Focused against the sending of remittances from the United States to the largest of the Antilles, foreign investments and the performance of state-owned companies, the provisions represent an attack against the inhabitants of this country.

As pointed out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they are encouraged by the commitment contracted with reactionary families and special interest groups in the United States and Florida.

Cubans have an opinion about the announcements in Washington and understand that from there they seek to close all sources of foreign income to the domestic economy, hence their rejection.

With firmness and dignity in the face of a new outrage, they are prepared to resist and not to deviate from the cardinal plan of working for the revitalization of the economy.
