In a true demonstration of the power of the people, Venezuelans went to the polls in the first popular consultation of the year to choose the projects they want for their community and give answers to certain problems.
More than 5,000 communities and municipal districts participated in this Sunday's event, in which 36,685 proposals were presented to the citizens.
These proposals were formulated by the Venezuelans themselves, taking into account the needs of their communities to improve their living conditions.
The projects include roads, water, electricity, health, education and sports initiatives.
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has pointed out that the popular consultations promote the active, democratic and proactive participation of the communities in the execution of public works in their respective areas, and that they receive direct funding from the government.
In the last year, two initiatives of this type have taken place, which constitute a mechanism for solving problems that affect the localities that are best known by their inhabitants.
As a result of these consultations, which took place in April and August, more than 9,000 projects have been financed in different areas, such as the integral management of water, health and housing, among others.
As expressed by the Minister of Municipalities and Social Movements, Ángel Prado, this Sunday, February 2, was a day with the people in power, deployed in the streets, squares and countryside to decide on the projects of their communities.
And a demonstration that the people have a voice and the power to decide on the programs that can positively affect their daily lives.
The transformation of each territory for the benefit of its inhabitants is the goal of these popular consultations, whose main protagonist is the Venezuelan people.
Venezuela keeps alive its commitment to continue working for the welfare of its citizens, even in the midst of the constant attacks from the right and the campaigns of hate and discredit to which it is subjected.
