Shortly after President Joseph Biden reiterated at the UN what he defines as his respect for "democracy," representatives of numerous countries demanded the end of the U.S. blockade against Cuba, without the current occupant of the White House listening.

Biden made hostile references to Cuba, among other countries, during his speech at the 76th Session of the UN General Assembly.

In the opposite direction, many speakers questioned why the United States remains impassive in the face of 29 requests from the UN General Assembly for Washington to suspend the siege against the Caribbean island.

A suggestive question was posed by the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Timothy Harris, who, after recalling Cuba's assistance to his country and others during the pandemic, asked what potential the homeland of José Martí could contribute to the international community if the blockade were lifted.

Along with Harris, presidents, prime ministers, foreign ministers, foreign ministers and other representatives of the Caribbean also made statements calling for an end to the boycott against Cuba.

The same position was repeated by the envoys of South Africa and Burkina Fasso, among others from Africa, the presidents of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, and Costa Rica, Carlos Alvarado, as well as the Mexican foreign minister, Marcelo Ebrard.

The head of Mexican diplomacy considered that "instead of unilateral measures" it is opportune to "implement measures of solidarity and mutual support to promote economic growth and development".

Significantly, the United States has a reverse behavior, since former President Donald Trump ordered more than 240 restrictions in relation to Cuba, without his successor dismantling them.

Despite the fact that in the electoral campaign Biden referred to the relaxation of some of the penalties, he did nothing, in tune with the legislative leadership of alleged Cuban origin. 

If, as he pointed out before the UN, his administration favors peace, diplomacy and democratic lines, why does he not listen to those at the UN ---- and even in the Caravanas Puentes de Amor ---- urging him to retrace the route of sanctions against Cuba.

Biden and his advisors should take note of what was expressed by the Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley, who after referring to the difficult material situation in Cuba due to the siege, wondered why when it is mentioned, nothing happens.
