A current of international condemnation is growing against the terrorist attack on the Cuban embassy in the United States, an event that fortunately did not cause loss of human lives.

The government of the largest of the Antilles quickly and forcefully denounced the attack, committed, as evidenced by a security video, by an individual carrying two Molotov cocktails that could have caused a major incident.

As is well known, international conventions oblige host countries to provide protection to embassies and other foreign missions.

Cubans cannot forget that in 2020 another terrorist attack against their embassy in Washington caused consternation and provoked the strong condemnation of the government of this country.

Three years ago, an individual, later identified, fired 32 projectiles with an assault rifle against the building, an act that the United States refused to qualify as terrorist.

It was hoped that after this time the perpetrator of the violence would have been brought to justice, but this has not been the case.

It is opportune to hope that the investigation into the new aggression against the Cuban embassy does not suffer delays.

The spokesman of the U.S. State Department, Matthew Miller, said that an investigation is being carried out and, according to press reports, described the "attacks and threats against diplomatic facilities" as unacceptable.

What is certain is that the impunity enjoyed by the perpetrators of violent actions encourages them and others to continue on the path of crime, in violation of laws and conventions in the civilized world.

Cuba has suffered and denounced at least 581 acts of State terrorism against its diplomatic representations since the triumph of the Revolution.

The hatred promoted by the official oratory in Washington and exacerbated by the extreme right wing of the Cuban emigration, essentially settled in Florida, generates an atmosphere conducive to the realization of attacks.

All this is happening in the United States, which unilaterally places Cuba on a list of countries that, in its view, sponsor terrorism.

Americans in solidarity with Cuba gathered to denounce the recent attack on the embassy, also demanded that their government remove Cuba from the illegitimate list.
