Isis Flores
Havana, June 26 (RHC)-- Cuban singer, pianist and composer Isis Flores has just celebrated 14 years of work with her band, which since 2007 belongs to the catalog of the artistic representation agency Musicalia of ARTex.
Isis started her artistic life with a female orchestra called Son Damas; then she connected with the ensemble Novel Voz and later became a member of David Blanco´s band, as pianist and singer. With David Blanco she worked for five years, recorded several albums and embarked on countless national and international tours.
She produced her first solo album “Sola” under Bis Music label, which catapulted her to fame as an outstanding exponent of Cuban pop-rock art.
Amidst COVID-19, Isis Flores and her band have remained very active, giving concerts online and offering their art as part of the campaign launched by the Cuban Ministry of Culture, the Cuban Music Institute and the Radio and Television Institute.
They recently gave one of those concerts, during which they premiered some tunes and performed also tracks from their album ‘No digas no,’ released two years ago under Bis Music label. The occasion served also to share the stage with young rapper Iris La Doña, with which she sang the tune ‘Vamos a Celebrar’, released in 2019 on the 500th anniversary of Havana.
Earlier this year, Isis Flores and her band gave another concert online, pre-recorded at the iconic Bertolt Brecht theatre here in Havana, again without audience due to restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic. This time, they revisited past hits with new arrangements and more contemporary sounds.
She also starred in the already popular TV program Súmate a mi Show, hosted by popular Cuban actor Ray Cruz, aiming to promote the art of musicians from the vast catalog of Bis Music record company.
Along with Anaís Abreu, Osdalgia, Ivette Cepeda, Yaíma Saez, Isis participates in the project ‘Por Siempre Longina Retorna’, where they pay tribute to and honor the legacy of legendary Cuban composers Manuel Corona and Sindo Garay.
And, last but not least, Isis Flores is an active contributor to the women’s empowerment project ‘Somos’ led talented musician Suylén Milanés. The fusion tune ‘No me quemes,’ which Isis sings with Duo La Reina y La Real, has become a hit, broadly promoted on national radio and television, as well as on social networks.
