May Pilgrimages begin in eastern Cuba
Holguin, Cuba, May 2 (RHC)-- The artistic youth festival, Romerías de Mayo, will begin today until May 8 in the eastern city of Holguin with a program that includes more than 16 side events, concerts, exhibitions and talks, among other activities.
Attendees will be celebrating three decades of the Romerías, which have become an important cultural event in which tradition and modernity converge.
This was confirmed by its organizing committee, which announced for the evening of this day the presentation of the Holguin Symphony Orchestra and its guests at the Eddy Suñol Theater with the program "Herencia Sonora 2023".
This will be followed by the colorful parade of cars along Los Libertadores Avenue to the Bosque de los Héroes, where those present will be able to enjoy the pre-Romerías concert by Cuban singer-songwriter Frank Delgado.
Rachel García, director of the provincial sector of Culture, highlighted that this edition will have luxurious moments, such as the recital of musician Raúl Paz together with lyrical singers from Holguín.
She also mentioned the expected performances of other interpreters, among them David Blanco, Ray Fernandez, Eduardo Sosa, Luis Barberia, Karamba, Nolberto Leyva and Raul Prieto.
Another of the recommended activities is the personal exhibition "Memoria", by the National Plastic Arts Award winner Lesbia Vent Dumois, who will also be part of the panel "La pintura mural y su expresión en la contemporaneidad" (Mural painting and its expression in contemporary times).
This edition of the Romerías is dedicated to the 170th anniversary of José Martí's birth, the fourth congress of the Saiz Brothers Association and the people and culture of Mexico.
