Havana, August 21 (RHC) -- The third edition of the Varadero Josone Rumba, Jazz & Son Festival begins today in the capital city of the western province of Matanzas and ends on Sunday in Cuba's main tourist destination, located in that town.
The emblematic Sauto Theater in Matanzas will be the venue for the first three days of the festival and will host important Cuban and foreign artists and groups.
On Monday night, one of Cuba's rumba legends, Los Muñequitos de Matanzas, a group attached to its African roots since it was founded in 1952, will dress up.
The legendary group will be accompanied by Yarima Blanco y Son Latino, and Alain Pérez y La Orquesta.
From Thursday until the end of the festival on August 27, the performances will take place at the same time in Varadero's Josone Park and, in the same way, the show will be inaugurated by the rumba group that opens tonight in Matanzas.
Along with them, the fourth day will feature La Mambanegra, from Colombia; while, from Cuba, Toques del Río, Orquesta Faílde and its guest Hayla María Mompié, Pachito Alonso y sus Kini Kini, and Diván.
The extensive musical, recreational and environmental program is presided over, as every year, by the musician and creator of the event Issac Delgado, who at a press conference referred to one of the attributes of Josone Park, that of being the lung of the resort and the protagonist of the preservation of nature.
In addition to its recreational function, this year's edition of the event calls for raising people's awareness of the need to take care of the environment, which is why a group of organizations such as the Cuban Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, the Ministry of Tourism with several of its hotel chains and Los Portales S.A. were involved in the event.
The president of the event recalled that the essence of the event lies in our music, that's why the main promoting organizations are also involved, such as the Ministry of Culture, the Cuban Institute of Music, the Cuban Music Recording and Publishing Company and others.
Varadero Josone Rumba, Jazz & Son allows you to enjoy different musical genres, in direct contact with nature and just steps away from the most beautiful beach of the archipelago, which makes the itinerary through this festival an authentic and unrepeatable experience. The event culminates on Sunday, August 27, with more than six groups performing daily on the stages set up inside the park.(Source:PL)
