Havana, June 10 (RHC) -- More and more cartoonists and caricaturists use their work to raise public awareness about the influence of the political world on current reality. This explains the need for the I International Biennial of Political Humor, which will reach the Cuban capital on June 14th, and will extend to several venues until next June 28th.
With the fight against fascism as the main theme, the event brings together more than 40 artists from 22 countries, which encourages a variety of points of view regarding a phenomenon as complex as politics.
In a press conference, Daneisy García Roque, interim president of the National Council of Plastic Arts, commented that the event has graphic exhibitions, theoretical spaces, conversations, theatrical and audiovisual presentations, as well as concerts and other proposals in communities and centers of interest. social.
The central exhibition of the event will open on Friday, the 14th of June, in the gallery on 23rd and 12th (Calles 23 y 12 in Vedado); with cartoonists from 24 countries.
There are 225 works chosen to participate in the contest, which will be appreciated by a rigorous international jury that, under the direction of the Cuban cartoonist Arístides Hernández (ARES), will choose the Honor Prize and a first, second and third prize.
The National Hall of Humor and Satire will also meet at the San Antonio de los Baños Museum of Humor, and there will be a special collective exhibition dedicated to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro. (Source: Granma)
