Havana, July 23 (RHC) – Multi-medal winners in World championships, Cuban duo Fernando Dayan Jorge and Serguey Torres carry the highest expectations for Cuba in canoeing in the Pan-Am games to be celebrated in Lima, Peru.
Jorge, in singles 1000 meters sprint canoeing and in the same category for doubles with Torres, are the favorites for giving Cuba the first two gold medals in the event this Saturday, in the city Huacho, 200 km north of Lima.
Brazilians Isaquias Queiroz and Erlon de Souza, along with Canadian Mark William Oldshaw will be the main possible rivals for Jorge in the singles competition. While in doubles, Brazil and Canada will be the ones the Cubans to beat.
