France World Cup
Paris, November 16 (Prensa Latina)-- The French national soccer team today made official the call-up of striker Randal Kolo Muani (Eintracht Frankfurt) for the Qatar World Cup to replace the injured Christopher Nkunku, the second casualty of the week.
It was confirmed last night that striker Nkunku (Leipzig) will not be in the tournament with the reigning champions after suffering a knock in training yesterday, news that followed Monday's decision to drop central defender Presnel Kimpembe (PSG) from Les Bleus' squad due to injury.
The team led by Didier Deschamps had already lost its two key midfield players, Paul Pogba (Juventus) and N'Golo Kanté (Chelsea), long before the announcement of the 26-man squad for Qatar-2022.
As if that were not enough, star striker Karim Benzema (Real Madrid) confessed the day before that he will not make it to the World Cup at 100%, although he neutralized rumors of serious problems, after he left the training camp in Clairefontaine yesterday.
France will make its debut on November 22 against Australia in Group D, also shared with Denmark and Tunisia.
