Havana, December 4 (RHC)--  The second edition of the Havana Skate Marathon ended this Sunday in the Cuban capital, after a Saturday full of emotions and fraternal competitive atmosphere between Cuban contestants and world champions on the Havana Malecon.

During Saturday's event, world champion Jhoan Sebastián "Chevy" Guzmán, a Spaniard of Venezuelan origin, won the inline jump with 1.32 meters and then set the record for a Cuban event at 1.35 meters.

Cubans Yohanly Gutiérrez (1.30) and Ricardo Calderín (1.25) came second and third in the showy event at La Piragua Park.

Then, in skate cross (race in which obstacles are overcome), the Italian world champion Duccio Marsili dominated with 48.8 seconds, escorted by Guzman (49.17) and Gutierrez (57.17).

In the speed slalom, another modality with obstacles, Guzmán triumphed with 4.99 seconds, but at the end, in the 100-meter speed, he was second again behind Marsili, in a competition where the Cuban Héctor Caballero was third, while the local Adriana Cantillo and Amanda García, and the Colombian Karoll García, led among the women.

On this day, the marathon was held, with distances ranging from eight kilometers (km) for children of nine and 10 years old to 42 km for those over 16 years old without age limit, in a circuit of 3.4 km with start and finish line in the park of La Piragua and the return in Prado and Neptuno.

The Havana Skate Marathon, started in 2019, returns with strength after the COVID-19 pandemic, with the support of World Skate, the governing organization of that sport, whose president and sports director, the Italians Sabatino Aracu and Francesco Zangarini, prestige the event and plan to turn Cuba into the protagonist of skating.
