Jasiel Rivero, MVP in December
Havana, January 2 (EFE) -- Cuban Jasiel Rivero, power forward of the Valencia club, has been named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the month of December in the Endesa Basketball League, Spain's top league.
Rivero deserved the distinction by averaging 20.7 rating points in the last games of the year.
In addition, he averaged 14.7 points, 5 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in the three games he played (he was unable to play the 10th game), which resulted in two wins for Valencia.
It should be clarified that several players have finished with a higher average rating in December, but do not qualify for the award because they do not meet the requirements stipulated in the rules, such as not reaching 50% of wins for their club in this month or have not been able to play the minimum number of games due to injury.
Jasiel Rivero, also voted Best Latin American Player of Matchday 12, earned his second MVP nomination in a month this season, after also earning the distinction in October.
