Havana, December 18 (PL) -- The Industriales team will seek today to extend to four the winning streak, with which to consolidate its second place in the Elite League of Cuban Baseball.
The Leones finished the last sub-series with two wins over the leader Matanzas, both by shutout, and in yesterday's game against Sancti Spíritus they won 11-5.
With this successful streak, the Blue Jays of the capital moved up to second place, shared with Artemisa, which lost to Las Tunas by 10-8.
Industriales' victory went to the individual resume of starter Kevin Hernández (6.0 IP, 5CL, 5H, 5K, 1BB), who received support from Yasiel Santoya, a former Sancti Spíritus player, author of a pair of homers, while Ariel Hechavarría drove in three runs.
The roosters Dunieski Barroso and Yadiel Guerra each hit two-run homers in a losing cause, while reliever Yankiel Mauris took the loss.
The embrace in second place, three games behind the Matanzas leaders, took place after Las Tunas defeated the Cazadores with the offensive leadership of Yordanis Alarcón, who hit a home run and drove in two.
The best pitching decisions were made by the Leñadores bullpen, after the winning relief of Rodolfo Díaz and the sixth save by Alberto Pablo Civil, with two of the espirituano Yanielquis Duardo.
