Paris, Sep 2 (PL) The Chinese delegation extended today from 10 to 14 gold medals its lead over the United Kingdom at the top of the medal tally at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, where it has 43 titles.

On the fifth day of competitions of the great event that will close on Sunday, the Asian giant climbed to the top of the podium a dozen times, thanks to its badminton (seven), archery, boccia and shooting athletes, with one crown.

For their part, the British consolidated their second place in the overall standings after winning six gold medals in triathlon (two), swimming (two), boccia and archery (one).

Three years ago, at the Tokyo Paralympic Games, China dominated the medal table by a wide margin, winning 96 gold medals, 55 more than the United Kingdom.

On Monday, the United States confirmed its third place with 13 gold medals, five of them won on the day, three in triathlon, followed closely by Brazil (12), winner of four, two in athletics and two in swimming.

Closing the Top 5 of the table is the host country France, which with the five gold medals won today reached 11 crowns.
