Virtual taekwondo
Havana, Oct. 30 (JIT) - In a pioneering move that promises to transform the panorama of the sport, the Pan American Taekwondo Union (PATU) announced the celebration of the first Pan American Championship in Virtual Reality.
This groundbreaking event will take place in April next year in Querétaro, Mexico, and marks a significant milestone in moving the sport into an immersive digital environment.
PATU follows in the footsteps of World Taekwondo, which plans to hold the first world competition of its kind in Singapore next November 16-17. This trend reflects the growing global interest in digital sports experiences, where technology merges with sport to offer new opportunities.
The adoption of virtual reality not only represents a technological breakthrough, but also introduces a new way to train and compete, eliminating traditional physical limitations. This championship will allow athletes from all over the Americas to measure their skills in an environment that will use state-of-the-art technology to simulate combat in an immersive and realistic manner.
PATU President Juan Manuel Lopez expressed his enthusiasm for this event, “With this virtual reality championship, we are taking taekwondo to a whole new level.”
“Our organization remains at the forefront of global trends, preparing for the future of sports competitions,” he expanded.
“Virtual reality offers an experience that is already being recognized by the International Olympic Committee, and we are proud to be the first to implement it at the Pan American level,” he added.
The integration of technology, learning and tradition in this event reflects PATU's commitment to the development of taekwondo in the Americas.
The championship is expected to attract a wide audience interested in witnessing how technology can revolutionize sport competitions. This pioneering event will not only strengthen PATU's position on the international stage, but will also inspire other federations to follow the path of innovation.
The event promises not only to change the way taekwondo is practiced and experienced, but also to pave the way for future technological innovations in the sport worldwide.
