Barcelona (4) vs Real Sociedad (0)

Spain, Mar 2 (PL) Club Barcelona, at its headquarters in the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, thrashed Real Sociedad 4-0 today and regained the top spot in the Spanish soccer league.

The azulgranas went back to the top of the table in matchday 26, accumulating 57 points after their sixth consecutive victory, to displace Atletico (56) and Real Madrid (54), the latter being the victim of Real Betis the day before.

Hansi Flick's team, champions of the Spanish Super Cup, took advantage of their numerical superiority from the 17th minute when Aritz Elustondo was sent off for an aggressive tackle and scored goals from Gerald Martín and Marc Casadó, both thanks to assists from Dani Olmo.

Although La Real defended as best they could against the attacks, the Catalan party continued in the second half with a header from Ronald Araújo and the 21st goal from Robert Lewandowski, to become the top scorer in La Liga.

Leganés beat Getafe 1-0 and later on, Mallorca will play Alavés and Osasuna will play Valencia to close the day.
