Regatta on the Malecon Between Cuba and USA
Athletes from Cuba and the United States held a regatta today in the waters of Havana's Malecon seafront, which was more symbolic than competitive, because it was a very friendly cap between the two countries following the announcement of the intention of both governments to restore diplomatic relations.
Five Cuban teams and an equal number of Americans competed with Hobbie Cats, a sort of very fast, light and variable ship, according to José Miguel Diaz Escrich, commodore of the Cuba's Hemingway International Yacht Club.
The lid took place on the occasion of the visit of more than one hundred American yachtsmen, who arrived last Saturday in 20 boats as protagonists of the Havana Challenge regatta, the first in 15 years that received US government approval to travel to Cuba.

Chess
Cuban GM Leinier Dominguez faces today Dutch GM Anish Giri looking for 1 point to keep him among the leading group at the Chess Grand Prix based in the Russian city of Khanty-Mansiysk.
After 4 dates, Dominguez, owner of 2734 Elo points, goes 3rd with 1 win and 3 draws with 2.5 points, tied with Russian GM Peter Svidler (2734) and behind the Italian GM Fabiano Caruana (2803), leader of the event with 3 units.

Judo
The 4 Cuban judokas to participate in the Master of Morocco on May 23rd and 24th in the city of Rabat departed today to the African nation led by Idalis Ortiz, London 2012 Olympic champion.
Ortiz, double world champ in Rio de Janeiro 2013 and Chelyabinsk 2014 at +78 kg travel with Asley González, world runner-up at 90 kilos in the London Olympic appointment and king of the world in the Russian city.
The Caribbean island representation is completed with Jose Armenteros (100), world silver in Chelyabinsk, and Dayaris Mestre (48), silver in the Grand Prix of Havana 2014.
The women's team is completed with Onix Cortés, Yalennis Castillo (78), Aliuska Ojeda (57), Gretel Romero (52) and Maylin del Toro (63), where the notable absentee to Toronto's meeting will be Yanet Bermoy (52), Olympic and world medalist, and Maricet Espinosa (63), bronze in the Grand Prix of Havana, both because of lesions.
Cuban athletes are led by professors Ronaldo Veitia and Justo Noda, head coaches of women's teams and men's Cuba, in that order.
The tournament will bring together the top 15 world ranking judokas in each division, and is part of their preparation for the Pan-American Games next July in Toronto, Canada, after which they will also attend the World Championship in Astana, Kazakhstan, next September.
