Ramallah, March 8 (RHC) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas stressed Wednesday that Palestinians are sticking to a peace process based on the internationally-supported two-state solution.

Abbas made his remarks when receiving Boris Johnson, British secretary of state for foreign and commonwealth affairs in Ramallah on Wednesday, according to the Palestinian state-run news agency WAFA.

"Any peace process should lead to the establishment of the state of Palestine on Palestinian territories occupied by Israel in 1967 with east Jerusalem as its capital," said Abbas.

Abbas briefed Johnson on the latest developments in Palestinian territories as well as regionally, adding that Israel must stop its settlement expansion and other actions in violation of Palestinian rights such as random assassinations and arrests.

According to WAFA, Johnson said his country supports the two-state solution to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, stressing that settlement activities carried out by Israel in Palestinian territories "are illegal."
