Cairo, January 25 (RHC)-- At least ten people have been killed across Egypt as security forces attacked supporters of ousted president, Mohamed Morsi.
The casualties were reported in the cities of Bani Suef, Alexandria, Damietta, Giza, Fayoum and Minya. A number of people have been also arrested. The clashes broke out as thousands of pro-Morsi demonstrators held fresh protests throughout the country to denounce the military-backed government for the ouster of Egypt’s democratically-elected president last July.
On the same day, the country was rocked by several blasts, which left at least seven people dead and scores of others injured.
The first bomb attack was carried out when a car bomber struck a security headquarters in central Cairo early Friday, leaving four people dead. A second blast killed one person in the Dokki District of the capital.
The third blast, which also left one dead, happened near a cinema on the road leading to the Pyramids of Giza. The fourth blast happened when a convoy of security forces was hit by a bomb planted in a busy street in Cairo. One person was killed in that bombing.
Egypt's interim President Adly Mansour has condemned the attacks and pledged to uproot terrorism. The Muslim Brotherhood has also denounced the attacks.
