Washington, March 15 (RHC)-- The United States Senate has approved a War Powers Resolution that would end U.S. involvement in the Saudi-led war in Yemen, which has killed tens of thousands of children and brought half of Yemen’s 28 million people to the brink of starvation.
Seven Republicans crossed the aisle to join the Democratic Caucus in the 54-46 vote on the measure, which requires President Donald Trump to cut off military support for the war in Yemen -- unless U.S. troops are directly involved in fighting al-Qaeda.
The Senate passed a similar War Powers Resolution on Yemen late last year, but it died after then-Republican Speaker of the House Paul Ryan refused to bring it to a vote. The new Democratic-controlled House is expected to finalize approval of the measure, though the White House has signaled that Trump will veto it.
