La Paz, August 6 (RHC)-- The executive secretary of the Bolivian Workers' Central (COB), Juan Carlos Huarachi, reports that the dialogue between his organization and others of a social nature with the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) ended without an agreement on the possible modification of the date for the next presidential elections in the country. 

"There's no commitment, and from now on any responsibility or action that happens in the country is entirely the responsibility of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal," the labor leader said, referring to the failure of the meeting.  

During the meeting, the COB promoted, with the support of other social organizations, to change the date of October 18th, the last date programmed by the TSE for the presidential elections, given the popular demand that seeks to convene it as soon as possible.

"We have made the proposal known to them, including, neither 18 nor 6," said Huarachi and urged that a new election day be proposed with guarantees from international organizations and the Catholic Church. 

In recent days, the COB has led massive demonstrations in the city of El Alto, with support from other social groups, to reject the postponement of the elections and the de facto government of Jeanine Áñez.

The workers' leader has warned that the TSE is an accomplice of the government by postponing the elections for more than a month and not allowing the election of a democratic government that will assume strategic policies to reactivate the economy and fight the coronavirus pandemic.
