La Quiaca, November 9 (RHC)-- Former Bolivian President Evo Morales returned home on Monday from the border town of Villazon, where thousands of people awaited him with chants and a large "jallalla."  With that word in the Quechua-Aymara language that unites the concepts of hope, celebration and bliss, his compatriots welcomed Evo in an event full of symbolism after 11 one year, when he had to leave the country to preserve his life after the coup d'état of last November.

Minutes before, accompanied by President Alberto Fernández on the Argentinean side of the bridge that unites the two countries, the former Bolivian president said that he never doubted that he would return, after describing as historic and unprecedented the victory of the Movement toward Socialism (MAS), thanks to the unity of the people and the solidarity of the world.

"Last year at this time, we suffered a blow to our economic model, to our natural resources.  Once again, the history of the permanent struggle for life, peace and democracy is repeated," Evo said while thanking Argentinean President Alberto Fernández.

Stressing that he never felt abandoned, Evo Morales pointed out that today the struggle continues as long as capitalism and imperialism exist.
