Buenos Aires, July 14 (RHC)-- Argentinean President Alberto Fernandez addressed the economic and social situation in Cuba and Venezuela, and demanded an end to the blockades imposed by the United States unilaterally against those two nations.

"The blockades are causing incalculable damage to Cuba and Venezuela," said the president.  He called for the lifting of the unilateral coercive measures applied by the government of Washington.

The Argentinesn head of state, interviewed by Radio 10, stated that "if we are really so concerned about the lives of Venezuelans, let's put an end to the blockades, and then let Venezuelans decide what kind of government they want."

"There is nothing more inhumane in a pandemic than to blockade a country economically," said Fernandez.

Regarding Cuba, where its authorities denounced being victims of a smear campaign promoted by the United States, the Argentinean president commented that "all these things are for the people to resolve."

"I am not the one who should tell the people what to do; neither Argentina nor any other country in the world should do that," he said.

Alberto Fernandez recalled that in the most recent G-20 summit, he stated that "blockades in the world must end, because when they blockade a country they blockade a society, and that is the least humanitarian thing that exists."
