Buenos Aires, May 18 (RHC)-- The National Census of Population, Homes and Dwellings 2022 in Argentina is underway. Today, Wednesday, culminates the months of preparation for the most important survey of the country -- which comes with the confirmation that nearly nine million homes have already completed their form digitally.
More than 23.8 million people completed the digital form of the 2022 Census, which means that approximately one out of every two inhabitants of the country chose this modality to carry out the census procedure, according to information released by the director of the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses of Argentina (Indec), Marco Lavagna.
The last days were decisive in increasing the number of people accessing the digital census, since in the last 72 hours 2,023,869 households completed the digital census.
According to Lavagna "around tonight or tomorrow" the approximate number of inhabitants in Argentina will be known; in this sense, he added: "As the day goes by, we will be providing information" about the nationwide operation, which will end at 18H00 local time (21H00 UTC).
Although the number of inhabitants will be known in the next hours, Lavagna's estimate was given on the basis of the population increase calculation that says there are around 46.8 million Argentineans.
Lavagna said in that sense, the census "is the exact picture of who we are, we cannot plan where we want to go if we do not know who we are."
"I ask the population to collaborate with the census takers, please collaborate; let's try to do a census as fast as we can", urged the Indec director, who reported that 652,000 people are participating in the operation.
In the same sense, Argentinean President Alberto Fernández said in his Twitter account: "It is crucial that we all participate. The National Census allows us to think about how we can build a better future."
