The health ministry of the Dominican Republic said that all these patients are now at home and recovered from the disease
Santo Domingo, March 6 (RHC)-- The Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance (Mispas) of the Dominican Republic confirmed this Sunday the appearance of three new cases of cholera in that Caribbean country.
During a press conference, the Deputy Minister of Collective Health, Eladio Perez and members of the General Directorate of Epidemiology (Digepi), reported that, adding these three cases, so far the number of infected rose to 90.
The official declared that the new cases correspond to two males aged 57 and 59 years, as well as a 16-year-old woman. One of the patients is a Dominican citizen residing in the area known as Villa Francisca, while two of the patients are of Haitian nationality.
Health authorities reported that there are no relatives of the patients with suspected symptoms of the disease. Preventive, follow-up and case control operations are being maintained, as well as permanent intervention in the identified sectors to detect any suspicion or emergency that may arise. Several Health Area Directorates are participating in these operations together with the Vice-Ministry of Collective Health, represented through its Epidemiology Directorate and its Risk Management Directorate.
