Caracas, August 29 (RHC)-- Analysts inteviewed by teleSUR are focussing on the importance of the BRICS Summit held recently in South Africa.  During the forum "Expansion of the BRICS: Signs of a New World," several political observers talked about the outcome of the XV summit of the bloc held in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The forum was moderated by the president of teleSUR, Patricia Villegas, and Gustavo Borges Revilla of the portal Misión Verdad. 

On the panel, Mexican analyst Alfredo Jalife described the BRICS summit in Johannesburg as a tectonic summit because it imprints a dynamic for a multipolar world that leaves behind the Anglo-Saxon unipolarity that dominates the G7.   Jalife further indicated that the repercussions of the Johannesburg summit will be seen more strongly in next year's meeting in the Russian city of Kazan, where new members are expected to be admitted, among which Venezuela could be one.

For Christian Nader, also a Mexican analyst, the recent BRICS summit showed signs of the transition towards a new world and highlighted the importance of the global south.  In this sense, Nader expressed, "we are seeing a process of very deep changes on African soil and this is the reason for Ethiopia's entry to the BRICS."

During his participation in the BRICS forum, Christian Nader recalled the centuries of Western domination represented by the US and its allies which has led to a unipolar world.  Nader warned that despite having initiated a process of change, Western domination could persist for decades to come.

He also expressed the opinion that BRICS is beginning to configure a mobile epicenter, which does not need to be established in a single nation and added that a new world is being configured through the needs of the majority of countries through dialogue and the multiple positions that must be taken into account.

On the relevance of the BRICS Summit for Latin America, former Bolivian minister, Juan Ramón Quintana commented that the region is in the middle of the dispute, being a strategic actor with a large amount of participation.

"Hand in hand with Brazil, Latin America is entering to play in the big leagues, we were a secondary actor" noted Juan Ramón Quintana.  For the former Bolivian minister, Latin America is facing an unprecedented and important opportunity, which will give Celac geopolitical capital and will position the region to offer less vulnerability to U.S. intervention.

"We are going to have the Brics as a shield to prevent Latin America from continuing to be the territory of coup d'état interventions", said the former Bolivian Minister of the Presidency.  According to Juan Ramón Quintana, Latin America would multiply its status as a threat to U.S. security interests since the strengthening of the Brics would be exposing US security.

Separate points in the teleSUR forum were the opinions of the Venezuelan and Bolivian foreign ministers who were present at the XV BRICS Summit.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil said that the Johannesburg summit raised many expectations due to the moment we are living.  In Gil's opinion, it has been the main summit of this organization, for two fundamental reasons, firstly because of the changes and the expectations of enlargement with additional members of the organization.

Yvan Gil affirmed that BRICS has been building an interesting story, which is to base political and economic relations on other principles such as respect for international law, respect for the self-determination of the peoples, understanding of the meaning of solidarity, collaboration, which is the basis of political relations.

For the Venezuelan, a powerful bloc with great capacities is being formed, they have surpassed the G7, it is the bloc that is emerging with more strength in scientific and technological development.

Bolivian Foreign Minister Rogelio Mayta highlighted that the events of the last few years have accelerated the preponderance of the Brics in the world, which are the future.

Mayta said that developing countries agree on the need for new ways of thinking, new structures within international relations, to build a new international financial structure that finally allows countries that have been less favored in their development to achieve it.
