Lima, October 6 (Andina-RHC) -- Peruvian President Ollanta Humala cast his vote in his hometown of Surco Sunday as millions of voters made their way to polling stations nationwide to pick local authorities in Peru.
The head of state reached his polling center at Ricardo Palma University in the Surco district of Lima while his wife, First Lady Nadine Heredia, cast her vote at the Jorge Chavez school, in the same neighborhood.
The Peruvian leader stressed that his administration would work together with all democratically elected authorities, regardless of political persuasion, to guarantee the welfare of the population. "The government will continue to support municipalities, as we have done up to this point," he added.
Likewise, President Humala urged voters to cast their ballots early and not to wait until the last minute to flock to polling stations to take part in a vote that will decide the future of their country.
