Gaza City, June 2 (RHC)-- Palestinian rescue teams have recovered 50 more bodies from the rubble in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, bringing the total number of bodies recovered following the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the area to more than 120.
Palestine’s official Wafa news agency reported that rescue and civil defense teams have recovered the bodies of 50 Palestinians on Sunday, as search operations continue for dozens of people who are missing among the rubble of buildings destroyed in Israel’s relentless bombardment.
This comes as rescue teams have already recovered over 70 bodies, including 20 children, in the area.
Medical sources at Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza city of Jablaia also told Anadolu news agency that emergency crews and civil defense teams have recovered more than 120 Palestinian bodies from the destroyed roads and under the rubble of collapsed buildings in Jabalia, as the cleaning of debris are still underway two days after Israeli forces left the camp.
On Friday, the Israeli regime announced withdrawing from the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza following a 20-day offensive against the area that involved about 200 airstrikes.
According to Palestinian authorities, the offensive has destroyed 70 percent of Jabalia, which is Gaza's largest refugee camp and home to more than 100,000 Palestinians.
Various news outlets, meanwhile, cited the Palestinians returning to the camp following the Israeli withdrawal as describing the area as “unrecognizable” due to the sheer extent of the destruction that had been caused by the Israeli aggression.
The head of the UN's Palestine refugee agency, Philippe Lazzarini, has also posted “most horrific” pictures of the Jabalia refugee camp, bemoaning the level of destruction that had been caused by the Israeli operation to the camp.
Israel unleashed its war on Gaza on October 7 laste year after the Palestinian resistance group Hamas carried out Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the usurping entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.
Since the start of the offensive, the Tel Aviv regime has killed more than 36,439 Palestinians and injured over 82,627 others.
