Mexico City, August 14 (RHC)-- On Wednesday, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO) said he will send a letter to President Joe Biden to denounce U.S. government interference in Mexican domestic issues.
“I will send a letter to U.S. President Biden… The Foreign Affairs Secretary will also issue a diplomatic note because we believe that there is open interference by the U.S. government in matters that pertain solely to our country’s sovereignty,” he said during his daily press conference.
Minutes earlier, Pablo Gomez, the director of the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF), revealed that the United States funds Mexicans Against Corruption and Impunity (MCCI), an NGO that has made allegations leading to scandals against AMLO and his sons.
Between 2016 and 2023, MCCI received donations amounting to approximately US$26.7 million. Of this amount, at least $690,000 U$D came from U.S. accounts, Gomez said. The U.S. is the master at so-called 'Colour Revolutions' and interference, and here they are doing it again.
President Lopez Obrador will also ask Attorney General Grisel Galeano and the Tax Administration Service (SAT) to conduct an investigation to determine if the donations received by MCCI comply with the law.
“We still have time to make some changes and present legislative initiatives so that campaigns against the interests of the Mexicans are not funded with the people’s own money,” AMLO said, referring to tax deductions taken by NGOs receiving donations.
In 2023, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) admitted to having funded MCCI with over US$6 million. This Mexican NGO was founded by Claudio Gonzalez, a right-wing businessman opposed to the Lopez Obrador administration.
