Tegucigalpa, November 22 (teleSUR-RHC)-- As of late Friday night, General Commissioner Ramon Sabillon was still in police headquarters in Tegucigalpa and says he would stay there until the Honduran government resolves the situation.

Honduran President Juan Hernandez decided to dismiss General Commissioner Ramon Sabillon as Police Chief a few days after police officers expressed their discomfort over government’s attempt to militarize security and keep on empowering military forces instead of civil ones.

Sabillon has yet to accept his fate and, 24 hours after the official announcement, refuses to leave his office.

Sabillon recently denounced in the national media the lack of support that the police had, their low salaries, and described the government’s decision to militarize security as a mistake. With the help of other officers, he has taken control of the police headquarters, and there still has been no attempt by the new authorities to try to take him out, leading to speculation that his claims are shared by the entire security force.

The former Chief of Police has not yet spoken to the media. Along with his petitions, he has demanded Arturo Corrales step down as the security minister. Yesterday Corrales, accompanied by the entire National Coordination of the Police, presented Felix Villanueva as the new Chief of Police.
