Mexico City, December 26 (RHC-teleSUR) -- Dozens of family members of the missing Mexican students, organizations and supporters protested Thursday in front of the German embassy to demand that the European country stop selling weapons to Mexico.

"We are here in front of the embassy to demand that Germany stop selling arms to Mexico, because they are using them to kill students,” the movement spokesperson, Felipe de la Cruz and the father of one of the 42 missing students told EFE.

According to the families’ lawyer, Vidulfo Rosales, Guerrero is among the list of Mexican states to whom Germany is not allowed to sell weapons, a list that includes Oaxaca, Chiapas, Chihuahua and Michoacan. However, the general federal prosecutor of Mexico confirmed that the weapons used on September 26th in Iguala were in fact HK36 rifles, made in Germany.

De la Cruz added that Germany should comply with international law requiring that “countries commit to not selling arms in areas of political and social conflict like Mexico.”
