Mexico City, January 13 (teleSUR-RHC)-- The parents of the 43 forcibly disappeared Mexican students clashed with police on Monday after trying to enter the barracks of the 27th Battalion in the city of Iguala, Guerrero, the municipality where the students were attacked and subsequently disappeared.

Parents of the students announced earlier this month that they intended to “occupy” barracks throughout the country in order to look for the missing students. The parents believe that the federal government is attempting to cover up their role in the disappearance of the students, and have previously called for an army barracks to be searched.

According to La Jornada, the clash lasted nearly an hour and left a journalist, a student, and two parents injured.

Those seeking entry into the barracks were able to get past a barricade set up in front of the entrance. In a video posted online, activists can be seen using a Coca-Cola truck, which had apparently been commandeered, to break down the barricade. They were met by police there and were unable to proceed any further.

La Jornada also reported that activists set two tractor-trailers on fire on the highway between Iguala and the state capital of Chilpancingo in order to shut down the highway.
