Bridgetown, July 2 (RHC)-- The annual summit of the Caribbean Community, CARICOM, got underway today in Bridgetown, capital of Barbados, where Heads of State and Government of the region will discuss policies to boost economic growth.

 During the meeting in which the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon, will take part, the participants are discussing the progress of the current economic model in order to design strategies for a better distribution of resources, reduce vulnerabilities in Caribbean territories and improve the living conditions of the population.

Issues related to energy, the completion of the single market area, technological development, promotion of candidates for international posts and other relevant issues on the international agenda will be discussed by the member-countries of CARICOM.
