London, September 19 (RHC)-- A new report says bright young graduates from poorer background are increasingly unable to move to London due to growing housing costs in the capital.
The report by the London School for Economics and Sutton Trust warns of a growing barrier to social mobility saying only 6 percent of graduates moving to London are from poorer areas.
According to the report, “the biggest proportion of recent graduates moving into London are those who have studied outside the capital but are originally from London and have moved back in with their parents,”
This comes as among those non-Londoners who have moved to the city after graduation, an increasingly high proportion are from wealthier backgrounds.
Experts say this is hampering the intake process of young graduates into London's jobs market and locking out those without financial support from their families.
