New York, September 29 (teleSUR-RHC)-- Speaking to the United Nations General Assembly, President Evo Morales reiterated on Monday that capitalism has failed, urging world governments to further their efforts to implement true "social justice." "There will be no peace without social justice," President Morales said to the heads of states present at the 70th Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations. He added that capitalism is a failed model and "is not the solution for life much less for humanity." On the issue of international drug trafficking, Evo Morales said that the issue has been exploited for political purposes in Latin America by the U.S., referring to the recent revelations made by former DEA agent that alleged the U.S. government targeted Bolivia under the guise of anti-drug programs. "In Bolivia, we are better than before without the DEA and without the U.S. military bases," he said, urging countries to continue the fight against drugs as a political priority even if they don't have the backing of major Western countries. Earlier, in a speech delivered on Friday to the UN General Assembly, Morales called on world leaders to work together to provide more opportunities to economically disadvantaged populations. In efforts to achieve this, the Bolivian leader encouraged countries to curb what he described as “unprecedented military spending.”
