Brasilia, November 4 (PL-RHC)-- The Commission of Ethics of the Chamber of Deputies began on Tuesday a process against the president of the Brazilian legislature, Eduardo Cunha, for alleged unethical behavior.
The leader of the Commission, José Carlos Araújo, highlighted the inaugural session will begin with the designation of the clerk of this cause, who will be in charge of proceeding with the probe on the top authority of that legislative organ.
He pointed out that 53 deputies presented last month a demand, in which they asked for the mandate of Cunha be revoked for hiding bank accounts in Switzerland, with undeclared money to the Justice Electoral Court (TJE) when he presented his candidacy in 2014.
Parliamentarian and promoter of that petition, Chico Alencar of the Party Socialism and Liberty (PSOL) also said the demand is backed in a document sent at the beginning of last October by the General Attorney of the Republic which corroborates that the legislative authority has deposits in the European nation.
It is then deducted that Cunha lied in his testimony before the TJE and also last March when he denied having accounts abroad before the Commission investigating everything related to the Petrobras corruption scandal, he indicated.
The President of the Chamber denies those accusations despite that the Attorney General -ratified according to local news media-who received evidence of the Swiss justice on the possession of those deposits.
The evidence reveals the leader of the legislative had in Switzerland $4,831 711 and another of 1,311 700 Swiss franks equivalent to 23,200 000 reals, in four accounts, two of which were closed after the discovery in March last year of his dirty deals in Petrobras.
