Buenos Aires, December 17 (PL-RHC)-- Criticism is increasing against Argentinean President Mauricio Macri, due to his decision to appoint by a senatorial decree two new judges assigned to the Supreme Court of Justice.

Human rights organizations and political parties, even those allied to Republican Proposal (PRO), represented by the new president, called this measure a mistake and demand to reverse the appointments, said an article published in the newspaper Pagina 12.

On Tuesday, just four days after arriving at Casa Rosada, the presidential headquarters, the president, protected by the Article 99 of the Constitution that gives him the authority to fill vacancies that need the Senate's approval, appointed lawyers Carlos Fernando Rosenkrantz and Horacio Daniel Rosatti.

Both judges will occupy their posts for one year, but the Executive could ratify them anyway.

With this decision, Macri evaded the discussion in the Senate, something that is a rule for later vote and approval of the proposal.

The president is facing a strong majority of the current opposition Front for Victory (FpV) and other political forces.

The new presidential measure has been hardly criticized. It is a decision from another century, fitting of dictators and not of a democratic president elected by the people, said FpV Deputy Juliana Di Tullio.

Meanwhile, authorities as the Civil Association for Equality and Justice and the Center for Legal and Social Studies joined the wave of rejection and called the measure a serious institutional backward step.
