Tokyo, May 27 (RHC)-- U.S. President Barack Obama says world leaders are “rattled” by the presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and are not sure how to react to his proposals. During a break at the G-7 Summit in Japan, Obama said: “I think it's fair to say they are surprised by the Republican nominee, they are not sure how seriously to take some of his pronouncements, but they're rattled by him, and for good reason.”
The U.S. president told reporters that many of Trump's proposals "display either ignorance of world affairs or a cavalier attitude or an interest in getting tweets and headlines instead of actually thinking through" the situation.
Obama did not go into a detailed critique of Trump but said he shares the same anxiety as other world leaders. And the U.S. president would not discuss the Democratic campaign and ducked questions regarding the latest developments about Hillary Clinton's e-mail server use.
He also downplayed concerns by the Democratic Party over the long-running primary fight between Hillary Clinton and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.
