Havana, January 12 (RHC)-- Cuban President Raul Castro presided over a military and solemn ceremony for the burial of the remains of 33 combatants of the 3rd Mario Muñoz Front, fallen during the war of liberation and after the triumph of the Revolution.
The ceremony took place at the Mausoleum of Heroes and Martyrs of the 3rd Front, burial site of Commander of the Revolution Juan Almeida Bosque (1927- 2009), chief of the Front, and members of the column of the Rebel Army that fought under his command during the liberation struggle.
Speaking at the ceremony, First Vice-President Miguel Diaz-Canel recalled the courage of these fighters and ratified the irrevocable decision of the Cuban people to be loyal to the legacy of those whose actions led to the triumph of the Revolution on January 1, 1959.
Students from the Camilo Cienfuegos Military School, from the municipality of Contramaestre, laid three wreaths on behalf of Raúl Castro, the people of Cuba and the relatives of the guerrilla fighters.
Inaugurated on March 6, 1998 by Juan Almeida Bosque, the Mausoleum is located on the hill of La Esperanza, the highest in the center of Cruce de los Baños locality in of the 3rd Front municipality in Santiago de Cuba province.
