Havana, April 25 (RHC)-- Cuba's GeoMinera S.A. enterprise and the Canadian company Millbrook Minerals, Inc signed a contract establishing an international economic association in mineral prospecting.
The new venture will conduct geological exploration in a area of 318 square kilometers extending over the central Cuban provinces of Cienfuegos, Villa Clara, and Ciego de Avila, with the goal of locating mineral deposits and forming joint enterprises for their exploitation and marketing.
Gustavo Puentes Pereda, GeoMinera general director, told Granma that they intend to find copper, zinc, and other precious minerals, and to begin mining operations over the next five years.
The multi-million dollar agreement is a landmark in relations between the two companies, which have been working together for 20 years now.
