Havana, September 8 (RHC)-- A multi-disciplinary team of Cuban experts is working to improve the teaching program 'Yo, sí puedo' (Yes, I Can) to incorporate the use of new information and communication technologies.
In statements to reporters in Havana, Cuban researcher Jorge Tamayo Collazo with the National Pedagogical Institute, noted that more than 10 million people in 30 nations have learned how to read and write using the Cuban teaching method.
According to data released by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the world marks International Literacy Day --observed every year on September 8th-- with over 700 million illiterates, including 115 million young people between the ages of 15 and 24.
