Havana, March 13 (RHC)-- Cuban university students are paying tribute today to the loyalty and courage of young revolutionaries, who on this date 57 years ago, mounted an unsuccessful attack on the Presidential Palace in Havana and the radio station Radio Reloj, in an attempt to overthrow the bloody U.S.-backed dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista.
Yosvani Montano, President of the Federation of University Students (FEU), told reporters in Havana that representatives from various generations would gather together at the former Presidential Palace -today's Revolution Museum to recall the heroic actions on March 13th, 1957, and pay homage to student leader José Antonio Echeverría, a martyr of the revolutionary action, who was named FEU's Honorary President.
Also in the western city of Cárdenas -- the home town of Echeverría-- university students carried out the traditional pilgrimage to the mausoleum that treasures the student leader's mortal remains.
