Havana, November 15 (RHC)-- Former Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff lamented Cuba's withdrawal from the landmark health program 'More Doctors for Brazil' and highlighted the high professionalism of the island's health personnel offering their services in the South American nation.

Writing on Twitter, Dilma termed the work of Cuban doctors in Brazil as “generous, altruistic and necessary to millions of Brazilians.” She called the withdrawal of the Cuban doctors from the program as “irreparable loss.”  And she underscored that the Cuban decision was a direct consequence of the disrespectful, threatening rhetoric of Brazilian president-elect Jair Bolsonaro.

The former Brazilian head of state further criticized what she called Bolsonaro's complete ignorance of international diplomatic relations.

She noted that Cuba is among very few countries in the world with a high correlation of doctors per inhabitants, and the country's health system enjoys well-deserved international prestige.
