Havana, November 17 (RHC)-- Cuba and the European Union (UE) will hold their first dialogue on unilateral, coercive measures, set for Monday in Brussels, Belgium. The Cuban delegation to the talks will be headed by the general director for multilateral affairs and international law at the foreign ministry, Rodolfo Reyes Rodríguez.
Issues for discussion include the impact of Washington’s blockade of Cuba, as it constitutes a number of unilateral, coercive economic measures -- the longest running against any country -- and a gross violation of the human rights of the entire Cuban people.
Monday’s official dialogue in Brussels is in accordance with Article 10 of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement, signed between the EU and Cuba in 2016, and which entered into force provisionally in 2017.
In preparation for Monday’s meeting, civil society representatives from both sides met Friday in the Belgian capital to exchange information on the damage inflicted by the U.S. blockade in every field of Cuban society.
