Havana, April 1 (RHC),-- Some 30 Haitian youth make up the first Haiti-Cuba solidarity brigade, named after Haitian patriot Antenor Firmin, that pays homage to the 210th anniversary of the independence of that Caribbean nation.
The inauguration of the solidarity contingent was scheduled to take place Tuesday at the Julio Antonio Mella International Camp, located in the western Cuban province of Artemisa, according to the Cuban Friendship Institute.
Brigade members include the vice-minister for the Haitian Diaspora Marc Elie Nelson and students from the diplomatic and consular school, the Aristide Foundation and the National Student Organization.
The activists will meet in a seven-day program to learn about the update of the Cuban economic model. They will also visit the Cuban Caribbean Association and do voluntary work, among other activities scheduled at the western province of Pinar del Rio.
