Havana, March 26 (RHC)—Cuban health authorities announced on Thursday the second death related to COVID-19. The deceased is a 45-year old Russian citizen who suffered from high blood pressure and diabetes and had been reported in critical condition for several days.

The announcement was made by the Chief of Epidemiology at the Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Francisco Duran, during the daily public press briefing to inform about the situation of Coronavirus in Cuba.

Duran also reported that as of midnight on Thursday, 10 additional patients had tested positive, bringing to 67 the number on people with the disease on the Caribbean island.

Of the total, 61 patients are reported in stable condition, two are in critical and 1 is in serious condition.

According to the expert, the infections of all positive-testing patients had their origin outside of the island, and he stressed that no home-born contagion is reported in the country.

At present, 1603 patients are hospitalized island-wide and 36 000 asymptomatic people remain under surveillance at their homes by the primary care system.

Meanwhile, 352 nationals who returned to the island on Wednesday were transferred to the newly established quarantine centers.

Over 2,000 visitors left the country and there are some 26, 400 still awaiting to do so
