Havana, May 5 (RHC) – Cuban President Raul Castro sent a message to the 6th Unionists' Encounter, held in Havana over the weekend, stressing that such meetings reinforce the unity of Latin America and the Caribbean.
The message, which was read to the forum by Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdes, explained that the current and complex international scenario is marked by a crisis affecting world economy and dangers posed on peace in different parts of the globe.
Cuba is involved in updating its economic model to build a prosperous and sustainable society with the people and workers as main protagonists, the message read.
Raul Castro thanked the workers’ unions and movements represented at the forum for their countless gestures of solidarity with the Cuban Revolution.
The unionists’ forum was attended by nearly 500 delegates from 181 trade unions of 30 nations.
