Havana, October 17 (RHC)-- Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero highlighted this Saturday the work of Cuban health personnel who fought COVID-19 in Haiti, Dominica and Martinique during a meeting with collaborators.

Marrero sent a message of thanks on behalf of President Miguel Díaz-Canel and the First secretary of the Communist Party, Raúl Castro, as well as the Cuban people -- "always proud of this work."

The peculiarities of the pandemic tested all the professionals of the health system in the country, which allowed us to obtain the results shown so far, the prime minister acknowledged.

"We have had many experiences throughout this period of fighting, mistakes have been made, but we have learned," he added.

The prime minister recalled that the Cuban strategy was perfected as the disease progressed, which demanded the participation even of medical students in the active research.

Currently, most of the Cuban territory remains in the phase of new normality, except Havana and the central provinces of Sancti Spíritus and Ciego de Ávila.
