Havana, December 26 (RHC)-- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez ratified on Saturday the importance of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) as a space for regional exchange and dialogue.

On Twitter, the Minister reaffirmed his country's support for Mexico's pro tempore presidency of the organization.

We have the duty to preserve its foundational mandate as a forum for a political agreement that brings together, for the first time, the 33 States of Our America,' wrote Rodriguez.

During the 20th meeting of  CELAC's Foreign Ministers held virtually last September, member countries unanimously agreed that Mexico would remain at the entity's head during 2021.

The states agreed that the current presidency generated substantive advances and promoted the best tools to face the Covid-19 pandemic and in favor of Latin American and Caribbean integration.

CELAC is the most representative forum of the region and brings together the 33 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.

The block is a space par excellence for dialogue, agreement, and cooperation to solve the community's challenges as a whole and allows the region to present itself to the world with a single voice.
