Havana, May 2 (RHC) -- Cuban citizen Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara, who has allegedly been on a hunger and thirst strike for a week, has normal clinical and biochemical parameters, local health authorities reported on Sunday.

According to a note issued by the Havana Provincial Health authorities, Alcántara was treated at dawn at the Calixto Garcia General Hospital, where he arrived in medical transport, conscious and walking without difficulty.

In the physical examination, there were no signs of malnutrition, with the presence of normal clinical and biochemical parameters, according to the hospitals' medical report.

It also noted that, as established in the medical care protocol for Covid-19, an antigen test was performed, with negative results, and PCR samples were taken, pending results.

Since he arrived at the institution, and during the whole process, Otero Alcántara has been cooperative with the health personnel attending him, the note added.

The patient maintains a stable evolution, and the corresponding medical actions and observation continue to be carried out, the note concluded.
